UK Metrology Road Show Coming in March

The Gauge and Tool Makers Association (GTMA), inspired by the success of a similar event in 2007, is holding another “Make Measurement Matter” road show this coming March. The show is scheduled for March 19 at RAF Cosford near Telford in Shropshire.

The “Make Measurement Matter” format provides a unique opportunity for metrology professionals to discuss their measurement requirements with specialists from the UK’s premier metrology suppliers, all gathered under one roof for one day only. Also, attendees can view the latest technical developments in metrology products and applications.

“Modern manufacturing makes ever increasing demands on the measurement capabilities of companies at all stages in the supply chain,” explains Julia Moore, CEO of the GTMA. “From the simplest gauges to the most complex electronic devices, measurement really does matter.”

Moore notes that the venue of the road show is a reminder of the vital role measurement plays in the aerospace sector. “But it is equally important in production for Formula One,” she adds, “and we have been fortunate enough to secure a speaker from Red Bull Technology who will share his experiences on using the latest technology in this demanding field.”

A Renault V8-engine RB4 Red Bull Racing F1 car that will be on display in the seminar area at Make Measurement Matter 2009 will be used throughout the show by Hexagon Metrology and the Red Bull Technology team to demonstrate current F1 uses of portable metrology.

Hexagon Metrology returns to Make Measurement Matter next year harbouring hopes that it will be able to repeat the great success it had at the previous show. In 2007, the company took two on-the-spot orders worth more than £300,000 and logged several other serious inquiries.

“Naturally, metrology is critical throughout the high-tech manufacturing arena,” concludes Julia Moore. “The breadth of experience and range of products demonstrated at the road show will provide the solutions to many of the issues faced by manufacturers today.”

The 2009 event has been designed to provide both exhibitors and visitors with extensive opportunities to network with others in the industry while also keeping abreast of the latest developments in the field.
